Community Emergency Response Team

The City of North Richland Hills strives to be the safest community in Tarrant County and to be prepared for all potential natural and man-made disasters. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) plays an important role in our preparedness. If a disaster or emergency strikes North Richland Hills and overwhelms or delays emergency responders, CERT members will be called upon to help save and sustain lives until additional emergency responders arrive.

CERT members may serve in a variety of roles during a disaster including:
  • search and rescue;
  • fire suppression;
  • damage assessment;
  • lost child search;
  • public education;
  • medical triage and treatment;
  • debris clearance;
  • scene security;
  • donations management;
  • emergency operations center assistance.

CERT members also volunteer throughout the year at community events such as the Family 4th Fireworks Show and Night of Holiday Magic.

CERT is open to NRH residents or those who work in NRH. The next CERT training will be held March 23, 2016 through June 1, 2016 on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will also be a couple of Saturday classes. Space is limited. If you are interested in becoming a CERT member, please complete our online application form.
