A determination can be made to verify if your property is located in or near a floodplain.
North Richland Hills has seven major tributaries which flow through or are adjacent to the City. These tributaries are Calloway Branch, Big Fossil Creek, Singing Hills Creek, Mackey Creek, Walker Branch and Mesquite Branch. Also, there are numerous small tributaries which meander through neighborhoods and eventually join with the major tributaries.
If property is within the 1% Chance (formerly 100-year) Floodplain, a Floodplain Development Permit is required before any improvements, including fill, can take place on the property. Floodplain Development Permits can be obtained from the City of North Richland Hills Engineering Department located in Development Services at 4301 City Point Drive.
If you observe illegal activity within or near a floodplain area, please contact the Engineering Department at 817-427-6400 to report the activity. If you need assistance in determining whether a property within the City limits lies in a floodplain, contact the Engineering Department at 817-427-6400 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
