May 2 Update:
Traffic has been switched to the inner most lane in each direction. Due to safety concerns during construction, both the center and outside lanes remain closed.
Motorists on Mid-Cities Boulevard can expect lane closures and delays starting Monday, March 27, 2017 while contractors make improvements to the railroad crossing. During the first phase of the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction (the outer most lane). During the second phase of the project, traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction (the two inside lanes). Each phase is anticipated to last 5 weeks. Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for workers in this area.
The improvements to the railroad crossing are part of the TexRail service that will extend from downtown Fort Worth to North Richland Hills, Grapevine and DFW Airport. The section of the Cottonbelt Trail at Mid-Cities will not be impacted by the work at the railroad crossing and will remain open to cyclists, runners and walkers.
