  9. Spring in the Garden Seminar

    Winter is almost over and Spring is around the corner. Got questions about your landscape? Attend this free seminar on February 25 to learn what you need to be doing to get ready for Spring. This seminar is hosted by Geoff Sherman, the city’s Landscape Horticulturist/Certified Arborist, with guest speakers Steve Chaney and Sarah Hanson. Mr. Chaney is a Tarrant County Extension Agent. He coordinates a 400-member group of Master Gardeners, advises the Cross Timbers Master Naturalists and the Tarrant County Master Composters, and oversees the county’s Junior Master Gardener program projects. He is also coordinator for the Earth-Kind Program. Ms. Hanson is a nutritionist and is working to obtain her Registered Dietician license. She has a passion for enriching the community by promoting health, wellness, and physical activity. She loves the mission of the Common Ground Community Garden and is very happy to be a part of the garden.

    The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) provides citizens with firsthand information about their Police Department. During this 12 week course, participants learn about patrol procedures, dispatch operations, SWAT operations and crime scene search, as well as many other law enforcement subjects. CPA is open to NRH residents and those who work in North Richland Hills. There is no cost to participate, but space is limited and advanced registration is required.

  2. CPR Class

    February 16, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM @ 7202 Dick Fisher Drive N

    Learn CPR and save a life! The NRH Fire Department conducts CPR classes each month for the community. Classes are American Heart Association approved and each participant receives a book and course completion card. Three levels of training are offered:

    • Heartsaver CPR – Learn basic CPR skills for infant, child and adult and learn how to use an AED. Cost is $25.

    • Heartsaver CPR / First Aid – Learn CPR skills and how to use the AED, plus basic first aid such as helping someone with a broken bone or sprain. Cost is $30.

    • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Cost is $35.

    Classes are held in the Training Room at the NRH Fire Adminsitration Building.
