Keep NRH Beautiful annually recognizes residents for beautifully decorating the outside of their homes during the holiday season. Residents are encouraged to nominate neighbors by calling 817-427-6651 prior to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Judging will take place on Sunday, December 15. Nine winners will be recognized at the January 13, 2014 City Council meeting.

Bare Christmas trees can be dropped off December 26, 2013 through January 9, 2014 at Green Valley Park at 7701 Smithfield Road, or at the parking lot at 4131 Rufe Snow Drive, just north of Glenview Drive. Please place trees in the dumpsters.
In order for trees to be recycled they should be free of tinsel, ornaments, bags, plastic and stands. Mulch from the recycled trees will be available for residents to pick up at the two drop-off locations January 11 through 15, 2014 while supplies last. Please bring your own container and shovel to load the mulch.

Run Run Rudolph has been cancelled on Saturday, December 7, 2013 due to winter weather. The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 14 starting at 3:00 p.m. in the parking lot of NRH2O Family Water Park. This year’s event will benefit the North Richland Hills Animal Adoption & Rescue Center, which is raising funds to build a new animal shelter. The North Richland Hills Planning & Development Department is hosting two open houses regarding the establishment of a new Freeway Corridor Overlay District along Northeast Loop 820 and State Highway 121/183 (Airport Freeway). All property owners along the corridor are encouraged to stop by the City Council Chambers on Tuesday, December 17 between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. or Wednesday, December 18 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to learn about the proposed Overlay District.
The proposed Freeway Corridor Overlay District will impact new development and redevelopment along the corridor. It will not affect existing development, businesses or uses in place today. NRH Santa Cops and the NRH Firefighter’s Association are holding a holiday toy and food drive to benefit those who are less fortunate in our community. Residents are encouraged to share in the holiday spirit by dropping off new, unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items to the NRH Police Department located at 7301 NE Loop 820 or any NRH Fire Station. Donations will be accepted from Thanksgiving through December 20, 2013. Donations will also be accepted from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 14 at NRH2O Family Water Park. Donated toys will be delivered to children in need who attend Birdville ISD and food donations will go to the Community Enrichment Center to help needy families.

Due to winter weather, the Dec. 7 CPR Class has been rescheduled to Dec. 28.
Learn CPR and save a life! The NRH Fire Department conducts CPR classes each month for the community. Classes are American Heart Association approved and each participant receives a book and course completion card. Three levels of training are offered:
• Heartsaver CPR – Learn basic CPR skills for infant, child and adult and learn how to use an AED. Cost is $30.
• Heartsaver CPR / First Aid – Learn CPR skills and how to use the AED, plus basic first aid such as helping someone with a broken bone or sprain. Cost is $35.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Cost is $40.
