Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)


The City of North Richland Hills affords a housing repair program through Tarrant County The housing rehabilitation program is funded through the Community Development Block Grant and the HOME Investment Partnership Program. Both are Federal Block Grants from HUD administered by the Tarrant County Community Development and Housing Division.

Types of Repairs:

  • Roof
  • Foundation
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Weatherization

To be eligible to participate in this program, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Have an annual income below the HUD established income limits;
  • Own your home (place of residence for at least one year);
  • Have no more than two (2) liens placed against your property; and
  • You must meet at least one of the following criteria
    1. handicapped
    2. disabled
    3. 62 years of age or older
    4. family with dependent children
    5. and they must live in the City of North Richland Hills

To find out if you qualify, you may contact the Director of Neighborhood Services at 817-427-6650 or you may contact the Tarrant County Community Development and Housing Division at 817-850-7940. You will need to complete an application to determine if you meet all of the HUD qualifications. If you do, your name will be added to the City of North Richland Hill's list of houses needing rehabilitation. Each grant is good for $20,000 of improvements. If your property needs more that $20,000 of repairs, you will not qualify, and the repairs needed must be associated with the types of repairs listed above.
