Dismissal Information



INSURANCE / FAIL TO DISPLAY DRIVER'S LICENSE DISMISSALS
The following offenses may be dismissed by the Judge with no charge if the defendant brings proof of a valid driver's license as required by law and/or proof of financial responsibility/insurance coverage as required by State Law. The defendant must bring the proof to the Municipal Court within the 14 consecutive days after the citation is issued. Proof submitted for the purpose of dismissal will be verified. Most of these dismissals may be processed at the court window without having to go before the Judge. The Judge cannot dismiss these citations without verification.

  • Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No insurance)
  • Fail to Display a Valid Driver's License

FAIL TO REPORT ADDRESS CHANGE DISMISSALS
The offense of Fail to Report Address Change may be dismissed by the Judge if proof of correction is shown to the Judge within 14 days from the issuance date of the citation. YOU MUST SEE THE JUDGE DURING HIS COURTROOM HOURS TO REQUEST A DISMISSAL FOR THIS OFFENSE.

COMPLIANCE DISMISSALS
These dismissals have many terms and are not always a defendant's right. These dismissals are valid if the defendant appears on or before the required appearance date and meets the terms. Fees for compliance dismissals are payable immediately by cash, check, money order or credit card.

If you receive a citation for Expired Driver's License, and if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:

  1. Renew your license within 10 business days of the date you were charged.
  2. Provide proof to the Court of your new renewed license.
  3. Present the license renewal noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than the 14th consecutive day following the issuance date of your citation.

If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Registration, if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:

  1. Renew your registration within 10 business days of the date you were charged.
  2. Provide a legible receipt of registration that clearly identifies the vehicle in violation and the payment of the required penalty fee to the Department of Transportation.
  3. Present the receipt noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than the 14th consecutive day following the issuance date of your citation.

If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Inspection and the inspection was expired for less than 60 days your citation will be dismissed if you meet the following terms:

  1. Renew your inspection within 10 business days of the date you were charged.
  2. Provide a legible receipt of inspection that clearly identifies the inspected vehicle and the payment of the required inspection fee.
  3. Present the receipt noted above with $10.00 (dismissal fee) no later than your court appearance date assigned by the charging officer.

If the correction is done within the 14 days, but proof is not brought to the court until after the 14 days have expired, additional fines may apply.
