Consumer Health inspects all public, apartment, motel, hotel, health club and community pools and spas in the city to ensure compliance with the swimming pool ordinance.

Swimming Pool Plan Review
When a public or semi-public pool is constructed, plans and specifications
must be submitted to the Consumer Health for review and approval. All pools and
spas must meet the requirements of the Texas Department of State Health Services
"Standards for Public Swimming Pools/Spas."

Residential Swimming Pools
Private residential swimming pools are inspected at the time of construction to make sure they
comply with construction and safety codes. Backyard swimming pools must be surrounded by a 6-foot
tall fence with a self closing and latching gate. If you have a backyard pool, please

The City also recommends that you and your family members learn CPR. CPR classes are offered
once each month at the North Richland Hills Fire Administration Building. For more information
