Construction Worker (08-061-082008C)

Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide support in the construction and maintenance of City systems. This is accomplished by operating various types of heavy and light equipment, constructing water, wastewater and storm drain lines and repairing asphalt roads and concrete driveways. Other duties including maintaining and repairing equipment such as backhoes, pick-ups, dump trucks and various tools and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees. REQUIRES: No experience required. High school diploma or equivalent; a valid Texas Class C Drivers License; must obtain a valid Class A learner’s permit within 30 days as a condition of continued employment; and must obtain a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment as a condition of continued employment.




Mechanic (08-058-080408C)

Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair various types of vehicles and equipment owned and operated by the City. This is accomplished by performing preventative and unscheduled maintenance repairs on vehicles and equipment and repairing electrical systems, vehicle drivability, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems and air and hydraulic systems. Other duties include welding and fabricating equipment, performing other repairs on vehicles, providing office support and interacting with other City employees and citizens. REQUIRES: Six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency; two years as a journeyman automotive or light duty truck mechanic; possess and maintain a current valid Class A or B commercial Texas driver license or obtain a commercial driver license learner’s permit within 30 days of employment, and the license within 90 days of appointment to position; must obtain and maintain a minimum of four ASE certifications within one year from the date of hire as a condition of continued employment; and must possess and maintain a current valid State Inspection License or obtain a license within one year of employment.




Humane Srvcs/Public Awareness Ofr 08-052-071708C

Department: Neighborhood Services
Salary: $30,091/yr $14.47/hr

Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to apprehend and care for stray animals and to enforce local and state laws and regulations relevant to animal control. This is accomplished by providing information to the public regarding animal control activities and animal adoptions, apprehending wild and domestic animals and enforcing animal service laws. Other duties include educating the community on laws and regulations, coordinating volunteer efforts, and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position is subject to on-call duties and is required to work nights, holidays and weekends. This position does not provide direction to other employees. REQUIRES: High school diploma or equivalent; two years experience working in animal welfare; a valid Texas Class C Drivers License with a good driving record over the last 3 years; Advanced Animal Control Training through the Texas Department of State Health Services and Certification through TACA within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment; and Euthanasia Technician Certification within six months of employment as a condition of continued employment.
