The CodeRED system enables the city to deliver prerecorded emergency telephone messages to targeted areas, or the entire city, at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. Examples of times when the CodeRED system may be utilized include:

• Drinking water contamination
• Emergency situations where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety
• Extended utility outages
• Hazmat emergencies
• Severe weather
• Terrorism related emergencies
