Municipal Elections
The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of North Richland Hills and is responsible for conducting all City elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas.

The general election to elect officers of the City is held on the second Saturday in May of each year.

Council Elections
The North Richland Hills City Council is composed of a Mayor and seven Council members. All are elected at large. The Mayor and Council members in Places 2, 4 and 6 are elected for two year terms in even numbered years. Council members in Places 1, 3, 5 and 7 are elected for odd numbered years.
 
The next municipal election will be held on May 12, 2012 to elect a Mayor and Council Members in Places 2, 4, and 6 for a two year term.  In accordance with State law, candidate filing for Mayor and Council Places 2, 4, and 6 begins on February 4, 2012 and will end on March 5, 2012.  Qualified persons may file as a candidate between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the City Secretary's Office at City Hall, 7301 Northeast Loop 820.  Each application for a place on the ballot shall be accompanied by either a filing fee of $150 or a petition seeking the candidate's name to be placed on the ballot.  Such petition shall be signed by a least 150 qualified voters of the City.  Candidate packets may be obtained from the City Secretary's Office.
