The City of North Richland Hills established an Art in Public Spaces Program in 2002. By integrating art into daily life, the program beautifies public areas, improves our quality of life and creates a distinctive identity for our community.

Since the program began, the City has commissioned 17 pieces in its permanent collection for residents and visitors to enjoy. The art pieces are located in parks and public buildings throughout our City. They include a wide variety of mediums and materials, from paintings and mosaics, to metal and stone sculptures.

In an effort to further enhance the public art program, the Signal Art Program was implemented in 2007. The program commissioned artists to design original artwork for traffic signal boxes throughout the City. Some of the various pieces include an astronaut, a cowgirl jumping over the moon, and a horned toad with a little bit of Texas pride. So be on the look out, you never know what you might see at the next NRH intersection.

Loaned Art Program
The City of North Richland Hills maintains a Loaned Art Program that allows area artists to display their work in a public setting.  The Loaned Art Program is a low-cost Arts Initiative that provides an exchange where the public is provided an opportunity to enjoy fine art and artists receive citywide recognition for their efforts. 
 
A specially appointed Arts Review Committee will periodically release a Call for Art, which is an open invitation to professional artists to submit art for consideration. Artists wishing to submit their work for review by the committee should apply only when a call for art is placed on the city website.  Artwork that is selected for display will be installed to complement and enhance various NRH public buildings and venues.  At the end of a six-month to two year loan period, the city has the option to purchase, continue to display or return the artwork.

North Richland Hills annually hosts: art exhibitions, concerts and a variety of other live performances, as well as offering a variety of fine and performing arts classes and camps for youth in the summer and fine art workshops for adults throughout the year.
