North Richland Hills Begins City Manager Search

The City of North Richland Hills has selected the firm of Affion Public to assist with the search for the next City Manager. The new City Manager will replace Larry Cunningham who plans to retire on October 1, after more than 40 years of public service.

Affion Public specializes in identifying and placing executive-level candidates within the Public Sector. The firm has worked with cities, states, and counties throughout the nation to assist in recruiting the best and brightest candidates. Affion has been particularly successful in placing City Managers in Texas having worked with a number of cities within the state, including: San Antonio, Austin, Irving, McKinney, San Marcos, to name a few.

Affion will work with the City Council to determine the characteristics North Richland Hills wants for its new manager and to seek qualified candidates for the job. The firm will conduct background checks on potential candidates and will assist with narrowing the pool to a list of finalists. Finalists will be interviewed by the City Council this summer and a new City Manager will be selected before Mr. Cunningham retires on October 1.

North Richland Hills Mayor Oscar Trevino stressed the importance of finding the very best person to serve as the next City Manager.

“Larry Cunningham has done a terrific job for the City of North Richland Hills and he has set the bar high,” Mayor Trevino said. “We will expect the new City Manager to maintain the same high standards and to hit the ground running. There are a number of important projects that we will be working on the coming months with the widening of Loop 820, the development of two commuter rail stations and the revitalization of our more mature neighborhoods. We want to keep the positive momentum we have had going forward with a new City Manager.”
