New Garbage, Recycling Schedules
On Monday, February 4, 2008, Duncan Disposal will take over as North Richland Hills' garbage and recycling provider. Residents will see new collection vehicles in their neighborhoods and some residents will have new collection days. Duncan will implement the following garbage and recycling schedules starting the week of February 4, 2008.
Acceptable Waste
Duncan Disposal provides a "Take All" service for residential garbage collection that effectively accommodates
collection of almost any non-hazardous residential waste. "Take All" simply means they will collect all items
placed on the curb as long as they are containerized, in a can, in a bag, in a box or tied and bundled. All
materials including brush must be containerized or tied in bundles not to exceed four (4) feet in length and
fifty (50) pounds in weight. If more than four (4) cubic yards, the customer must contact Duncan Disposal to
schedule pick up.
Hazardous Waste
Collection of refrigerators or freezer units is prohibited unless certification is provided that C.F.C.'s have
been removed by a certified technician. Other hazardous waste items that are not acceptable for landfill disposal
include tires, batteries, petroleum products, paints and other chemicals and solvents identified as hazardous.
Household hazardous waste may be disposed of at the Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth. For more
information, click here.
Acceptable Recycling
Duncan Disposal also provides residential curbside recycling. All recyclable materials can be placed loose in
the plastic recycle bin and do not need to be sorted by material type (this includes newspapers, magazines and
household paper). The materials will be sorted at Recycling Plant in Arlington.
Metal Cans - Please rinse cans. It is not necessary to remove labels.
Aluminum Cans - We suggest that you step on the cans to save space in your bin.
Glass - Clear, green and brown glass bottles and jars. No mirrors, window glass, plate glass, light bulbs,
ceramics or broken glass.
Plastic Bottles - Only plastic bottles with recycling symbols #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #7. Rinse and remove
lids.
Mixed Household Paper - Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, envelopes, cereal boxes, and other paper.
No tissues, wet paper or paper contaminated with food products.
Cardboard - Cardboard should be broken down to a size that will fit inside bin. Larger boxes can be flattened
and placed under bin.
