Meridianwest was formed during the summer of 2004 in Oklahoma by Mark Gibson (vocas/guitar) and drummer David Kittredge. Unable to find other members who fit their sound, meridianwest played as a two-piece for live shows.
They felt as if it was more reasonable to start with an EP than to wait for the right bass player. In the studio, producer/bassist Luke Haney contributed the bass tracks for their debut EP, “The Sun Forgets.” Meridianwest recorded a five-song EP that represented the attitude of their sound and style.
Now that the EP is complete, they have settled in Austin, Texas and have added bassist Ryan Magnani. The faces of their songs have now matured further due to the influence of Ryan. Next, they will capture the energy and emotion of their live shows when they create their debut LP in early 2006.
Whether it is featured on an EP or an LP or a live performance, their music is the soundtrack of our lives., not focusing on just one emotion. “mer-id-ian”: the highest point or stage of development; peak in ones life. “west”: direction opposite that of the earth’s axial rotation; the sun sets to the west. meridianwest has found a way to reach this point in their music and will not let this “said” sun set.
