Symphonic rock with and honest and positive perspective is the secret to Radiant’s ability to inspire an upraise within a listener’s soul. The reality of every-day life is reflected on a euphonic succession of tone while harmonizing belief, emotion and sound.
Globally spun and indirectly borrowing sounds from genres of Euro-rock and indie pop, then adding a southern twist has formulated a sonically divine sound for the band. Barely into their early twenties and still gaining sight of the path before them, Radiant* is comprised of Levi Smith (vocals, guitar), Dragan Jakovljevic (guitar), Jon Schoemaker (bass, keys) and Daniel Hopkins (drums). Radiant* started to build their present lineup in the fall of 2000 when Levi and Daniel had the first inclination to assemble a solid musical project. Jon was an immediate addition after just a few meetings which left the worry of finding a secure and skilled guitarist. This quest brought them to Dragan who moved to the US from Bosnia and met Jon in school. Completing the lineup led to months of writing and understanding the prospective style of Radiant*. The band released their first full-length, “Year of Holidays” in 2001 and after selling 1,500 copies, stored away and started fresh to redefine and grow their sound.
The lessening influence of outside sources birthed the collection of songs available on the latest release from the foursome, “The Sound of Splitting Atoms”. Dragan’s mysterious melodies and instinctive, original sounds
compliment while competing with vocalist Levi’s own ascending resonance. Together Daniel and Jon further elevate each tuneful transformation with their hyper-intense rhythmic formations and incessant beats. “Way You Make Me Feel” is an unavoidable standout creeping along the edges of a broken heart while connecting the listener to the hopeful longing for recovery. “Do Not Delay” examines the search for spiritual salvation, and crow favorite “Sail” sinks into the depths of divorce, a broken home and the hope to pass it all by.
Released in September of 2003, the seven-track EP received immediate media attention and acclaim. The Dallas Observer’s Zac Crain noted that the “Sound of Splitting Atoms” “grabs you in a hug from the first few notes, knocks you to the floor, and is nice enough to help you after.” Also including Radiant* has “soul to spare and emotion you can’t deny”.
An upcoming tour with the band Flickerstick to promote the release of the “Sound of Splitting Atoms”, the launch of a new website at www.radiantmusic.tv and the band’s rapidly-growing fan base are all signs of and exciting future for Radiant.
“Hear the song of hope’s first sight, a melody of changing time.” “If I Had Known”, “The Sound of Splitting Atoms”, Radiant*
