Special Events

The City of North Richland Hills is proud to offer the following family-oriented special events.

Missoula Children’s Theatre

The nation’s largest touring children’s theatre is heading to North Richland Hills and will arrive with a set, lights, costumes, props, make-up, and everything else it takes to put on a play…except the cast!

Local children will have the chance to be a star in the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) professionally directed production of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast. An audition will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 26, at the North Richland Hills Recreation Center, located at 6720 N.E. Loop 820 in North Richland Hills. You must register your child in order to audition, and every child who auditions will be in the show! Ages 6 to 18 are welcome.

Throughout the week, professional actor/directors will guide these young thespians on a theatrical journey they will never forget. In five days they will learn dialogue, music, choreography, and theatre craft culminating in a public performance of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast. Rehearsals will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day and Beauty Lou and the Country Beast will be presented at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31st, at the North Richland Hills Recreation Center.

MCT's mission is “the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.” Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project.

The Missoula Children's Theatre residency in North Richland Hills is brought to you by the City of North Richland Hills Cultural Arts Division with support from ARTSNET and the Texas Commission on the Arts. For more information on registration and auditions, call 817-427-6600.
