Garage Sale Permits

Single Family Garage Sales
One garage sale is allowed per residential address every six months. The garage sale cannot be held for longer than two days. The permit costs $8. To receive a garage sale permit, please submit a permit application through our online portal or permits may be applied for Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Neighborhood Services on the first floor of City Hall. Due to the time needed to process a permit, applications received after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, on Saturday or on Sunday for the immediate weekend will not be processed or approved.
Homeowner's Association (HOA) Garage Sales
A homeowner's association may organize one neighborhood garage sale per year. The permit costs $30. You may submit an application through our online portal or the permit may be obtained Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Neighborhood Services on the first floor of City Hall. Due to the time needed to process a permit, applications received after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, on Saturday or on Sunday for the immediate weekend will not be processed or approved.
Neighborhood Garage Sales
Areas without a homeowner's association can join together for a neighborhood sale of six or more residents. Neighborhoods are allowed one group sale per year. The permit costs $30. Neighborhood garage sale permits can be applied for through our online portal or Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Neighborhood Services on the first floor of City Hall. Due to the time needed to process a permit, applications received after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, on Saturday or on Sunday for the immediate weekend will not be processed or approved.
Properties other than residential (commercial, churches, and schools) cannot hold a garage sale but can apply for a Community Event Permit for a sale or event being held at the facility. At least thirty-days of notice is required for a Community Event Permit. Permits can be obtained through our online portal. For additional information, please contact us at 817-427-6650.
Garage Sales Signs
Temporary unlighted signs announcing a garage sale of household possessions may be displayed in conjunction with an approved garage sale permit. Garage sale signs must be located on the private property where the sale is taking place.
Garage sale signs shall not be allowed on any public property, right-of-way, or utility, light, traffic signal or sign pole. Garage sale signs may not exceed six square feet in area and three feet in height.
Garage sale signs may not be posted more than 24 hours prior to the beginning of the sale and must be removed within 24 hours following the end of the sale. Garage sale signs may not be illuminated.

Please note, after you complete an application, as long as you meet the requirements, you will receive an invoice by email and a link to pay. After the invoice is paid, you will receive your permit by email. Please retain the email until your garage sale is complete.
