Members
The Crime Control & Prevention District is overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of the eight City Council members.
Powers & Duties
The District was established in February 1996 following voter approval of a half-cent sales tax to help fund local law enforcement services and programs. The District was originally approved for a 5-year period. A continuation referendum was held in 2001 reauthorizing the District for an additional ten years. At the second continuation referendum held on May 8, 2010, the District was renewed by voters for an additional 20 years. Goals of the District are to continue to demonstrate proactive, progressive and preventative policing at all levels and to provide an environment where our residents feel safe at work, at home and at play. The Board meets twice each year to review and approve the District’s fiscal year budget.
