The City of North Richland Hills strives to be the safest community in Tarrant County and to be prepared for all potential natural and man-made disasters. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) plays an important role in our preparedness. If a disaster or emergency strikes North Richland Hills and overwhelms or delays emergency responders, CERT members may be called upon to help save and sustain lives until additional emergency responders arrive.
CERT members may serve in a variety of roles during a disaster including:
- search and rescue;
- fire suppression;
- damage assessment;
- lost child search;
- public education;
- medical triage and treatment;
- debris clearance;
- scene security;
- emergency operations center assistance.
CERT members may also volunteer throughout the year at various community events and training exercises.
