North Richland Hills Fire Department is a Licensed EMS provider with the Texas Department of State Health Services and provides 24-hour emergency ambulance response.
All three of our ambulances are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services as mobile intensive care units (MICUs) and are staffed with firefighters / paramedics. Each fire apparatus is staffed with firefighter / paramedics that carry advanced life support equipment. Occasionally the fire company is the first to arrive at an emergency and this enables us to provide an advanced level of medical care as soon as possible.
Roy K. Yamada, M.D., FACEP is our medical director. His EMS experience includes serving as EMS medical director of the fire departments for the cities of Mansfield, Bedford, Pantego, Richland Hills, North Richland Hills, Allen, Midlothian, Hurst and Euless, as well as for DFW International Airport. He also serves as EMS medical director for Tarrant County College, Brookhaven College and PHI Air Medical of Dallas.
Dr. Yamada has been recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services as the EMS Medical Director of the year in 2001.
