Child Care Worker Cards & Classes
A North Richland Hills Child Care Worker Card is required for all persons who work in a child care facility. The one-hour NRH Child Care Worker Class covers basic food safety*, child safety, sanitation, and communicable disease prevention for child care workers.

Step 3 - Take Exam
Visit us in person to take the Child Care Worker Exam and obtain your North Richland Hills Child Care Worker Card.

Hours: | Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. |
Cost: | $21 per person ($8 if 62 years old or more) |
When taking the test, individuals will not be allowed to bring anything into the testing facility. Cell-phones, notes, etc. should be left in a safe place prior to testing.
Please let us know if we can offer the test to you in another format that will make it easier for you to pass the test (i.e. a verbal exam instead of written, Spanish translation, etc.). Advance notice must be given for these accommodations.
*Individuals working in the child care kitchen may also be required to obtain accredited food handler training.

What is a passing score?
A passing score of 70% is required to obtain the NRH Child Care Worker Card.
What happens if I fail the exam?
If you do not pass the exam with 70%, you can pay to retake the exam. You may not re-take the exam on the same day. You must review the class information and test another day. The cost of taking a second exam is another $21 per person ($8 if 62 years old or more).

How long is my Child Care Worker Card good for?
Your NRH Child Care Worker card is valid for 3 years after the issue date.
I want to take the class in person. What do I need to do?
We do offer on site training classes, but we require a minimum number of 15 participants in order to hold a class. The 15 participants may be employed by different facilities. Contact Consumer Health at 817-427-6650 to schedule an on site class.
