If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Registration, if you meet the following terms it is the Judge's discretion to dismiss your case:
- Renew your registration within 20 business days of the date you were charged.
- Provide a legible receipt of registration that clearly identifies the vehicle in violation and the payment of the required penalty fee to the Tax Assessor-Collector.
- Present the receipt noted above with $20.00 (dismissal fee) NOT later than the 20th business day following the issuance date of your citation.
- Must have stamp from the Tax Assessor’s office indicating a penalty fee was paid to them.
These dismissals have many terms and are not always a defendant's right. These dismissals are valid if the defendant appears on or before the required appearance date and meets the terms. Fees for compliance dismissals are payable immediately by cash, check, money order or credit card.
