Police Officer Entrance Exam

Requirements
Education:
High School diploma with a minimum of 30 college credit hours and a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher.
Age:
Must be at least 21 years of age at time of testing.
Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Citizen at time of application.
License:
Must possess a current, valid Texas driver's license or have the ability to obtain one.
Veteran:
May waive college credit requirement for an applicant who has been Honorably Discharged with 4 or more years of active duty service.
Certified Law Enforcement:
May waive college credit requirement for an applicant with two years police experience with the same department immediately prior to completing the application.
Required Examinations:
- Written Exam - instructions for the Study Guide will be sent after registrations are received.
- Physical Ability Test - 2,000 meter row on Concept 2 Rower. You may use the following form to input your information to see your target time needed to pass the exam (VO2 Form).
Personal History Statement:
After successfully completing the written examination, the Personal History Statement requiring detailed information regarding educational background, employment history, military service, references, and arrest record (including traffic violations) must be completed by the given deadline. Original documents such as birth certificates, social security card, high school and college diplomas and transcripts, driver's license, marriage certificate, divorce decree, and military discharge papers will also be required after you enter in to the background phase.
Background Investigation:
The police department will conduct a thorough background investigation to verify information given by the applicant in the Personal History Statement. After successful completion of the background investigation, applicants will be given a Conditional Offer of Employment based on passing the polygraph examination, psychological and medical evaluation.
