Word on the Streets

Workers at intersection of Davis and North Tarrant Parkway

Did you know that NRH Public Works maintains traffic signals at 63 intersections?  Please reach out if you see anything amiss such as a signal flashing red, a completely dark signal, or if a signal is skipping phases or otherwise not functioning normally.

  • Contact the Streets/Traffic Division directly at 817-427-6460 with any questions or concerns, 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Contact the Police non-emergency number at 817-281-1000 after hours or on the weekend, or if an emergency contact 911. We have crews on standby 24/7 to respond to any situation.

Next week, Public Works and their contractors will be working in the following locations:

  • Mid-Cities Boulevard - Various lanes will be closed for concrete panel replacement on Mid-Cities Boulevard between Holiday Lane and Iron Horse Boulevard. We anticipate these repairs to Mid-Cities Boulevard to be complete by June 9.
  • Davis / North Tarrant Parkway - Work continues to replace the paver crosswalks with stamped concrete. Next week’s work involves the remaining westbound and eastbound lanes on North Tarrant Parkway. Public Works will monitor the traffic signal, adjust, and try to keep traffic delays to a minimum during this work, which is anticipated to be completed in early June.
  • Public Works crews will be routing cracks and crack-sealing numerous streets throughout the city.

Please watch out for lane closures and be mindful of our workers.

May 18, 2023 Update

Next week, Public Works crews and concrete contractors will be working in the following locations:

  • Mid-Cities Boulevard - Various lanes will be closed for concrete panel replacement on Mid-Cities Boulevard between Holiday Lane and Iron Horse Boulevard.  We anticipate these repairs to Mid-Cities Boulevard to be complete by June 9.
  • Davis / North Tarrant Parkway  (continuation) - Work continues to replace the damaged paver crosswalks with stamped concrete on the south and east sides of the intersection. The current Davis lane closures are planned to reopen this Friday, May 19, with all lanes functional over the weekend.  Next week’s work involves the northbound left-turn lane and the remaining southbound lane on Davis, followed by two westbound lanes on North Tarrant Parkway.  Public Works will monitor the traffic signal, make adjustments, and try to keep traffic delays to a minimum during this work, which is anticipated to be complete in early June.
  • In addition, Public Works crews will be routing cracks and crack sealing numerous streets throughout the city.

Please watch out for lane closures and be mindful of workers in all work areas.

May 11, 2023 Update

In the upcoming week Public Works street maintenance activities can be seen in the following locations:

  • Karen Drive  (continuation from last week) - Concrete replacement of curb and gutter (where needed) and asphalt patching will take place in preparation for the upcoming asphalt overlay.
  • Davis / North Tarrant Parkway  (continuation from last week) - The existing paver crosswalks are being replaced with stamped concrete on the south and east sides of the intersection.  Please watch for lane closures and be mindful of workers in the area.  We continue to monitor the traffic signal, make adjustments, and try to keep traffic delays to a minimum during this work.
  •  In addition, Public Works crews will be routing cracks and crack sealing numerous streets throughout the city.

What is crack routing?
Crack routing is a process that uses a mechanical routing machine to widen a crack to a predetermined width and depth. This process opens up the crack leaving a smooth area for hot-rubberized crack sealer to adhere to the walls of the crack itself.

What is crack sealing?
Crack sealants are rubberized and have the ability to seal the crack while staying flexible with the pavement’s movement. Beneficial for active cracks that continue to extend in size and severity over time, crack sealants prevent water and debris from entering the crack, protecting the integrity of the pavement.

May 5, 2023 Update
