How does your household's monthly water use compares to the average NRH residential water customer? The chart below shows the average number of gallons billed each month for NRH single family homes. It does not include apartments, commercial or other accounts.
Keep in mind when you receive your bill that it is for a Service Period that started almost six weeks prior. This time lapse could contribute to the surprise factor when a large bill comes, but it’s been recently raining. You can find the Service Period and the number of gallons you used during that period in the Customer Account Summary of your bill.
Zero rainfall and continued hot weather contributed to the increase in water consumption in September. If your household used more water in September, it will be reflected on your statement that arrives in October.
Weather often impacts the amount of water that is consumed. During long hot, dry spells consumption normally goes up, as residents use more water to irrigate their lawns and landscaping and refill their swimming pools. DFW's monthly rainfall and average high temperatures are shown below. When looking at this data, you should compare it to the Service Period on your bill, rather than the date your bill arrived.
