Maleshia B. McGinnis was appointed by the City Council in October of 2016. As City Attorney, she serves as legal advisor for the City Council, the City Manager and City staff, City boards and commissions, and represents the City in all legal proceedings.
earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Texas City Attorneys Association, through which she is certified in Municipal Law.
began her career with the City of Fort Worth as a prosecutor in 2001, and worked her way up to being promoted to Sr. Assistant City Attorney and Section Chief in 2011. In addition, she previously worked as an adjunct instructor of Business Law at Tarrant County College.
received the Governmental Excellence Award from the NFBPA for completion of the Executive Leadership Training Program in 2007. She is admitted to practice in the state of Texas and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
